Last week, we kicked off a month of key sponsorship with several charities and organisations we are proud to be associated with. Spire is delighted to be sponsoring the very popular wooden Spoon Annual Wine Tasting Event and has seen funds increasing over the last two years from £1300 in 2020 to last year exceeding £2500. With numbers over 85 Thursday’s attendance was the busiest yet, so we’re confident the amount raised this year will be even greater than the last.
With your help, Wooden Spoon will continue to be the leading UK rugby charity and fund approximately 70 life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland every year. The national charity makes a huge difference to children and their families with projects including sensory rooms and gardens wellbeing activities, specialist equipment, and playgrounds.
With John Gibson’s stewardship as Worcestershire’s Wooden Spoon Chair, the charity has raised over £280,000 over recent years.
Worcestershire Ambassadors Golf Day
Worcestershire Ambassadors Golf Day – 16th September – The charity aims to promote Worcestershire as a great place to live, work, invest, visit and do business. Spire is delighted to be the main sponsor for this year’s event which was a sell-out within weeks of announcing the date. The event is expected to raise over £7000 in support of county-based charities and not-for-profit organisations.
Sponsorship for Worcester RFC
During lockdown Spire was invited by the Worcester RFC Board to investigate a performance issue with the existing Wi-Fi and internet service at the clubhouse. The cause of the issue was quickly identified and a new Wi-Fi network and high-speed 1Gbps capable fibre service was commissioned. The correctly specified network is now able to cater for the expected number of visitors at the popular venue located opposite Sixways Stadium. The clubhouse which not only provides facilities during match days but monthly well-attended events is now able to offer a reliable Wifi and internet service to all visitors and staff throughout the clubhouse.
Additionally, over recent years a nephew of one of the directors of Spire started his rugby journey playing in the junior Under 14 squad. Paul has seen his nephew develop both in skill and confidence on and off the pitch. Paul thanks the clubs coaching staff for their dedication in being part of Charlie Stringers development who will this year be an Under 16 Wildcat. Spire understands the significant wider benefits of team sports, especially with the younger generation, and recognises Worcester RFC as a key county club promoting wellbeing through sport to many age groups whether male or female including ability. Spire together with other county organisations including SCI Management, Baxter Williams Recruitment, and Hatt Kitchens are proud to be giving something back and look forward to sponsoring this year’s Home and Away kits for Worcester RFC.

Earlier in the Year – We supported a London charity boxing match featuring the former professional boxer James Frederick DeGale MBE. James held the IBF super-middleweight title twice between 2015 and 2018, and regionally the European and British super-middleweight titles between 2010 and 2012 The Boxing match which was a great success was held in Heathrow, London featured a close friend of Darren Ross a director of Spire.
